Principal Electrical Engineer

Our confidential client is a mid-stage, venture-backed medical technology company changing the standard of care for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.

The Principal Electrical Engineer will drive the detailed electrical design of our user-facing fluid handling and temperature control system, ensuring the system meets the needs of critical stakeholders, fits seamlessly into the operating room environment, and complies with all applicable standards.

As a key member of the product development team, the employee will engage with all members of the organization, including the quality, manufacturing, operations, clinical, regulatory, and research teams.

• Lead product design, process development, and support of the Client’s electromechanical fluid management system through all stages of the product lifecycle, establishing and demonstrating best practices throughout the product development process.
• Lead and execute successful design and implementation of a next generation refrigeration/cooling system.
• Select components and design power, control, thermal management, and analog instrumentation circuitry.
• Work with suppliers on technical design, procurement, and fabrication of components, assemblies, and test fixtures.
• Perform and document system and subsystem characterization and design verification testing of the treatment platform.
• Work with manufacturing and operations teams to set up production infrastructure and processes to build prototype and production capital equipment.
• Lead or act as a SME for root cause investigations of electrical, mechanical, software/firmware, systems, user-related, and/or manufacturing issues.

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least 15 years product development experience, or MS in electrical engineering with at least 10 years product development experience
• Experience leading analog and digital circuit design, electronics schematic capture, and PCB layout for complex medical device systems
• Expertise in embedded software, notably C++
• Thorough knowledge and experience applying international standards (e.g. IEC 60601) to product design
• Proven experience developing complete medical device products from concept through commercial launch

• Experience with designing refrigeration/cooling systems
• Design of complex medical capital equipment such as PFA or HIFU generators
