We are seeking a highly experienced Motor Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of high-performance electric motors for aerospace and defense applications. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role driving innovation, manufacturability, reliability, and cost competitiveness in a regulated (AS9100) environment.
What You’ll Do- Lead end‑to‑end motor design: concept, analysis, prototyping, assembly, test, and production transition
- Develop breakthrough motor technologies to win new and sustain existing business
- Apply electromagnetic analysis (FEA, simulation, modeling) to optimize performance, efficiency, mass, and thermal characteristics
- Drive design for manufacturability using GD&T, advanced materials selection, and system trade studies
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with systems, manufacturing, supply chain, and test engineering teams
- Oversee supplier technical compliance, conduct process reviews, and verify product conformity
- Support inspection, validation, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor competitive technologies and emerging trends
- B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of electric motor design experience (windings, insulation systems, laminations, magnets, bearings, enclosures, EMI, sealing, etc.)
- Strong expertise in electromagnetic principles, simulation, and system trade‑off analysis
- Experience designing for high‑reliability aerospace/defense environments
- Proven ability to lead technical efforts across engineering and manufacturing teams
