Lindell Engineering has an excellent opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Designer. This position is responsible for designing and creating mechanical construction documents. Utilize BIM principles and techniques to leverage model information, improve spatial coordination and increase modeling efficiency.

Founded in 1967, Lindell Engineering provides mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical engineering for industrial, commercial, and multi-family buildings. Responsibilities- Work closely with project lead to supply engineered drawings to buildings owners, architects, and/or contractors.
- Create designs in Revit from customer supplied drawings for plumbing and mechanical systems. Accurately place families in a 3D model and resolve spatial conflicts.
- Perform ventilation and plumbing calculations based on local codes.
- Design duct and piping layout for HVAC and plumbing systems, equipment placement, and overall mechanical design of a project with minimal assistance from a senior level person.
- Create schedules of mechanical and plumbing equipment such as air handling units, plumbing fixtures, etc.
- Coordinate with other trades such as electrical (this may be in-house or with other firms).
- Attend design related meetings with clients to present and define their needs, providing project status, and respond to requests or concerns – both verbally and in writing.
- Review drawings and research codes to verify compliance with city, state, and county regulations.
- Review submittals to ensure compliance with project scope.
- Manage multiple projects at one time.
- Communicate with customers, contractors and building officials to ensure a properly designed building.
- Minimum 2 year degree from an accredited school in architectural drafting or from a technical school in mechanical construction/design.
- Preference will be given to candidates working at a MEP consulting engineering firm or working for a design build Mechanical contracting firm.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in duct design, plumbing layout, gas piping design, equipment coordination, fixture scheduling, and/or equipment scheduling can lend to be favorable for the position.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred but not required. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Revit. Minimum 2-year experience.
- Revit Schedules:
Can manipulate and troubleshoot schedules. Can create basic schedules to modify model elements or retrieve model information. - 3D Modeling:
Accurately place families in a 3D model and resolve spatial conflicts. - Create Revit families. This would be a useful skill, but is not a minimum requirement.
- Has some familiarity with mechanical and plumbing codes whether it is local Minnesota codes or international codes. Familiarity with different Energy codes is a plus.
- Working knowledge of office programs such as MS Word and Excel.
- Must be a self-starter, capable of working independently and as a member of a group.
Compensation: Mechanical Designer/Drafter offers an hourly position along with a rich benefits package that includes medical, group life, long term disability, vision, retirement plan with company match, and educational reimbursement benefits.
Job Type: Full-time 40 hours.
Schedule: Monday through Friday.
Work Location: In office (80%-90%) with limited travel to job sites/meetings (10%-20%).
