Construction Engineering Manager – Tempe, Arizona
As a Construction Engineering Manager for PCL Construction, Inc. in Tempe, Arizona, you will have the opportunity to provide high-level project engineering and management support across complex water infrastructure projects. - Organize and host Engineering Kickoff meetings with the project.
- Provide an assessment report post Kickoff meeting.
- Perform routine inspections and reviews of the projects engineering progress. This includes spot checking of submittal review accuracy, progress, and approval performance.
- Provide projects adherence and use of PCL engineering SOPs and record keeping and review record keeping.
- Review and work with the project team on all submittals deemed higher risk.
- Be an on‑call resource for any project on Construction/Project Engineering questions and issues.
- Develop standardized District Project Engineering SOPs and work with the PCL Project Systems champion to incorporate these SOPs into PM4, Autodesk Cloud and any future PCL systems.
- Assist on project pursuits as needed which may include project background research, project understanding, and development and proposal level schedule in collaboration with the CED Scheduling Manager.
- Work with the Estimating department during preconstruction. This will include design review/VE, contract writing and procurement on long‑lead items and other PE/PM level items that may require attention prior to the construction management coming onboard.
- Work with and manage the newest CED Engineers. Provide training and oversight on work assigned to them.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of progressive construction experience with leadership and mentoring preferred.
- Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules.
- Ability to identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
