Overview
Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Transportation team in one of our metro offices. This entry level civil engineering role supports project managers and project engineers in design and construction phase activities on Transportation projects. The position is open to a new graduate or an experienced EIT with 1-3 years of experience.

What You Will Be Doing- Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on transportation projects
- Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, and prepare rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies
- Assist with project plans and specifications, preparing cost and quantity take-off estimates
- Assist with traffic corridor studies related to traffic operations, safety, modal integration and access management
- Assist with the design of traffic control devices including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, roadway lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), work zones, and detours
- Support construction observation activities including staking, administration duties, documentation, testing, and coordinating with contractors, residents, and City staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
- Certified Engineer-in-Training or able to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Prior experience in either infrastructure design and/or construction observation
- Working knowledge of CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, Micro Station)
- Developing knowledge of specialized traffic software (SYNCHRO, SIM Traffic, Arcady, VISSIM, etc.) preferred
- Requires frequent travel during construction season
- Possess a valid driver’s license as travel to facilities and job sites may be required
Salary Range: $58,000 - $90,000 depending on years of experience and credentials
