About the Role
Our Industrial Center of Excellence (ICoE) team at WSP is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to join our team. Our group specializes in high-performing projects with a focus on food and beverage, federal, and industrial facility design. The purpose of this role is to help develop construction documents for a variety of clients. We are flexible on location—this role can be based in Meridian, ;
Minneapolis, MN; or Madison, WI.
- Design and analyze structural systems for building cores, shells, and foundations, including steel, concrete, and masonry elements.
- Prepare structural drawings, specifications, and calculations in compliance with applicable codes (IBC, ACI, AISC).
- Coordinate with architects and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) to integrate structural design into overall facility plans.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction phase support.
- Use Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Autodesk Revit Structural to communicate 3‑D design to project teams, owners, and construction professionals.
- Assume ownership of project goals and success without micromanagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- 0–1 years of experience in structural design for facilities or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with structural analysis and design software (STAAD, RAM, Risa), as well as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Knowledge of building codes and standards; strong technical writing and coordination skills.
- EIT license preferred.
- Experience with Navisworks.
- Experience with food & beverage or federal facility projects; familiarity with BIM workflows.
- Previous design and consulting experience.
