We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer in our Minneapolis, MN office. This role provides high‑level leadership, mentoring, and training for less experienced staff and may involve technical, project management, marketing, or business development activities.
Responsibilities- Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
- Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposal generation, and contract reviews.
- Create project schedules and set milestones and deadlines.
- Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
- Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting; update billing projections and estimated completion percentages.
- Ensure designs follow owner standards, IMEG standards, code requirements, and that design milestones are achieved; complete quality control processes and provide construction technical support.
- Collaborate with design staff, coordinate scheduling during all phases of design and construction, and lead progress meetings with documentation.
- Conduct construction site visits and provide required documentation.
- Respond to and resolve client and construction concerns; manage change orders and obtain approvals.
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff; build, maintain, and develop client relationships.
- Advanced proficiency in electrical systems design, including circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics.
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference resources such as NFPA Link, Tech Street, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI).
- Proficiency with Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; proficiency with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu.
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others.
- Strong training and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (minimum 7 years of experience in the building design consulting industry; 8 years preferred).
- Or Associates degree or certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering (minimum 11 years of experience in building design consulting or construction industry; 12 years preferred).
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
- Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
Salary Range: $101,000 – $141,000. Individual pay will be based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
