The Calibration Technician will support the proper functioning and development of the Engineering Lab by calibrating testing instrumentation on schedule, ensuring instruments, gauges, and testing devices are calibrated correctly and consistently provide accurate readings.

Position Responsibilities May include:

  • Complete calibrations and qualifications in a safe, timely, and accurate manner following calibration procedures and schedules.
  • Responsible for proper handling, storage, and maintenance of test instrumentation and calibration standards.
  • Identify project supply/equipment needs and communicate them to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a neat and professional calibration work area and project a professional image.
  • Always follow safety protocols when executing tasks and projects. Ensure work areas are safe, organized, and professional in on-site and office environments.
  • Assist with the development of lab preventative maintenance plans and their scheduling.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors as required.
  • Identify, assess, and actively manage calibration-related issues.
  • Perform other job functions related to labs as assigned.

  • Works within knowledge and experience to provide accurate testing conditions for operations.
  • Provides guidance and training to junior technicians.
  • Works well as a team player and helps promote safety as the top priority.
  • Problems faced are typically difficult and sometimes complex.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of traceability, test accuracy, and uncertainty ratios as part of ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Ability to interpret standards.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation, calibration, and requirements of accuracy testing.
  • Ability to operate scissor lifts to access instrumentation at higher levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of thermocouples, pressure transducers, current transducers, and digital power meters.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and follow up with others to meet objectives.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new technology as needed.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Experience : 5–8 years of experience in an ISO 17025 certified calibration lab.
Education/Certification:
Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation fields, or equivalent from an accredited trade school preferred.
