Pay range: $58,100.00 - $. Pay is based on various factors, including labor market, education, work experience, and certifications.
Job OverviewAs an Associate Packaging Engineer (Home & Seasonal), you will lead the development of packaging for Target’s owned brands, exclusive partnerships, and transit packaging. You will work with internal and external partners, manage packaging projects, drive sustainability, and collaborate across global teams to deliver brand expression and market differentiation.
Responsibilities- Leverage structural packaging expertise and work under the Packaging Design & Development Director.
- Ensure primary packages protect, contain, and display products from concept to final use.
- Work with internal partners to define packaging requirements and identify optimal solutions.
- Collaborate with product vendors and suppliers to deliver solutions that meet business and consumer needs.
- Deliver solutions on time, at lowest cost, ensuring sustainability commitments and regulatory compliance.
- Drive packaging sustainability initiatives – reduce material use, phase out problematic plastics, and support EPR compliance.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities through material optimization, format changes, and supplier collaboration.
- Contribute to category and item‑level market research, consumer testing, and data analysis to inform recommendations.
- Develop Target packaging structural concepts for owned brand products and ensure accurate specifications, deadlines, and timely product launches.
- Four‑year packaging engineering degree.
- 1–4 years of experience (internships/co‑ops preferred).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize requests, and meet deadlines.
- Strong motivation to learn, passion for engineering and design, and capacity to work independently in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with Artios CAD and SOLIDWORKS; CSWA (Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate) preferred.
- In‑office requirement of 3+ days per week (Hybrid/Flex arrangement).
