JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for the design, modeling, development and testing of a machine, structure or system. Develops functional requirements. Understands and applies standard engineering principles. Creates simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and test how a machine, structure or system operates. Designs and tests components, and integrates components to produce final product. Monitors quality of products and controls the efficiency of processes.
Evaluates a design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements.
** Scope of Work / Project Overview*
* - Multi year hydroelectric facility projects in Western Wisconsin involving dam
reconstruction and upgrades.
- Heavy structural steel and reinforced concrete work; work in water with staged
installations.
- Significant regulatory involvement with FERC.
- Estimated 5–6 years of resource needs.
** Required Technical Skills*
* - Structural engineering focus (steel, concrete).
- ABET accredited engineering degree.
- Microsoft Office; heavy SharePoint use.
- Ability to open native CAD files (Micro Station ideal).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
** Preferred / Nice to Have Skills*
* - Hydro or water in work experience.
- Experience with FERC-regulated projects.
- PE or FE not required but preferred.
** Non Technical Skills*
* - Strong communication (written & verbal).
- Team collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Self management and prioritization.
