Johnson Service Group is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

Location:

Minneapolis, MN (Possible other roles in NC / SD / )

SUMMARY
Mechanical Engineers with experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) design
Available opportunities will focus on the design, coordination, and execution of mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, institutional, and industrial building projects.
Candidates with a Professional Engineer (PE) license are strongly preferred. (Not Required)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems for a variety of building projects in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop construction documents, technical specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Create and manage project models and drawings using Autodesk Revit.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layout design.
  • Review project submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction phases.
  • Conduct site visits and support construction administration as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of experience in MEP consulting or building systems design.
  • PE license preferred (EIT candidates with strong experience will also be considered).
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit for design and drafting.
  • Experience with HVAC design software such as Trane TRACE 3D Plus, Carrier HAP, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, local building codes, and industry best practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience designing systems for healthcare, commercial, higher education, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Previous client-facing experience and project leadership capabilities.
