Description
Actively foster a culture based on our Mac Culture principles, quality, diversity and inclusion, and team cohesion and camaraderie. Recruit, develop train, and retain interns and engineers. Coordinate team and mentor assignments of engineers with the substation department manager, project managers and project engineers for the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff. Review employee performance and conducting development meetings. Identify training needs for engineers and support/develop training programs for the department.
Collaborate with other departments on shared training. Assist with the development of new clients and maintenance of existing clients. Assist with developing and reviewing proposals. Responsible for fostering a healthy and vibrant employee‑owner culture within the team through the leverage of sound team‑building practices, the promotion and administration of effective conflict resolution, the promotion of ownership mentality, a healthy work‑life balance, and community engagement.
Assist the Substation Department Management team to develop business initiatives to improve profitability and/or efficiencies. Provide input into areas of concern and direction to enhance achievement of productivity goals, budgets, and quality. Interpreting policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to staff. Approve timecards and ensuring billable time goals are met. Telecommuting is allowed 30 days per year. Primarily domestic travel is required up to 25% for internal meetings and clients.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program plus five (5) years of substation engineering and design‑related experience.
Must have at least four (4) years of experience with the following:
- Pivot Tables, Data Models, Office 365 apps, or other similar data tracking tools.
- Protection and Controls design consisting of one‑line diagrams, three line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
- Physical substation design including plans, elevations, and details.
- Development of calculations in support of AC/DC system sizing, lightning protection coverage, cable sizing, or ground grids required.
- Developing Scope of Works for complex substation projects including sequence of construction.
- Monitoring and controlling project activities during project execution.
Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program plus three (3) years of substation engineering and design‑related experience.
Must have at least three (3) years of experience with the following:

$154,856 - $300,000 per year.
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year‑end incentive bonus program.
