The Test Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to maintain, improve, and design test solutions, working independently under direction from the manager. The role is located in Brooklyn Park, MN.
Reporting
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
What You’ll Be DoingBelow are key responsibilities for the role.
Key Responsibilities- Own the technical performance and stability of existing automated test stations (ATE) within production environments.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and system-level issues impacting test station uptime, yield, and throughput.
- Lead root cause analysis for test failures, false failures, and intermittent issues; implement corrective actions to eliminate recurrence.
- Improve test station reliability, efficiency, and data integrity through targeted updates to test software, hardware, and processes.
- Reduce uncertainty in test results by evaluating measurement systems, tightening limits where appropriate, and improving test robustness.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to prioritize and resolve line-down and yield-impacting issues.
- Maintain and enhance existing test programs, fixtures, and documentation to support long-term sustainability.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cycle time reduction, cost savings, and defect prevention within production test systems.
- Support introduction of product or process changes into existing test stations, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to Technicians and production personnel.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and drive standardization across test platforms and production sites.
- Support production facilities as needed, including onsite and remote issue resolution.

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and attend regularly.
Required- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- 2+ years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with manufacturing test processes for electronic or safety critical products.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, digital/analog signals, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and test documentation.
- Proficiency with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators.
- Experience developing software applications using environments such as Test Stand, LabVIEW, C++, Visual Basic, or C#.
- 5+ years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with safety-rated industrial control systems or automation hardware.
- Familiarity with PLCs, Remote I/O architectures, or distributed control systems.
- Knowledge of automated test systems (LabVIEW, Python or similar).
- Experience supporting manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of electronics and mechanical design.
- Good understanding of programming concepts and technologies.
- Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking.
- Clear communication and ability to collaborate across teams.
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Sit for up to 8 hours per day.
- Continuous movement, walking, or standing.
- Exposed to a computer screen for extended periods.
- May require repetitive motions such as utilizing a computer mouse, keyboard, computer, and other standard office equipment.
- Communicate with others frequently.
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment.
- Corporate office environment – indoor and climate-controlled.
- Exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and temperature changes in production areas.
- PPE may be required in specific areas (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection).
- Exposure to various manufacturing, warehousing, or related industrial locations.
- Moderate noise levels with occasional loud noise.
