WSP is initiating a search for a Traffic Engineering Project Manager for our Minneapolis, MN office. The position will be located in WSP’s Minneapolis, MN office and is a home/in-office hybrid position.
The Traffic Engineering Project Manager is a member of WSP’s Minneapolis, MN Traffic/ITS Team responsible for providing project delivery to a wide variety of clients and project scopes. The Traffic Engineering Project Manager will bring to the position a background in Traffic & Safety Engineering, client management, and a strong sense of business development. The primary function of the Traffic Engineering Project Manager is to focus on identifying opportunities provided by our clients, capturing those opportunities through effective proposal generation and then managing these projects throughout their life cycles.
The Traffic Engineering Project Manager position will have an opportunity to impact all elements of WSP Minnesota’s traffic engineering business and contribute to WSP’s success through management skills, technical expertise, client relationships, and effectively working with other WSP offices in the Midwest. As a potential hire, it is expected that you can effectively balance technical tasks and traffic engineering deliverables against client management services with special attention given to identifying new clients, growing existing professional networks and managing key contacts at each client agency that will help to further strengthen our relationships in Minnesota.
We are looking for a strong leader who is successful at managing workload and people to efficiently balance work across the state between all client types (state, county, MPO and local) and assist with staff development and Minnesota market growth opportunities. Your Impact- Provide leadership, oversight, and overall management of traffic related engineering projects and studies throughout the state of Minnesota.
- Provide assistance and technical expertise to traffic related engineering projects within the Midwest region.
- Assist in growth and development of the Traffic team by collaborating with the local WSP technical leads, regional technical leads and meeting with clients to develop and expand work, and strategic teaming partners.
- Identify opportunities for Traffic service offerings in existing and new markets, work with the talent acquisition team to identify key hires and grow our business.
- Coordinate with other Regional Traffic leaders throughout the country to identify workshare opportunities.
- Manage tasks as part of project development, including technical analysis, plan and report production.
- Interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (civil, planning, structures, geotechnical, facilities, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects across business lines.
- Improve overall quality and delivery of projects throughout the Traffic Engineering discipline.
- Assist in supporting agency coordination, permitting, and public participation activities.
- Perform a range of marketing and business development activities within the region, including gathering client intelligence, leading pursuits and proposal development, presentations, manpower and fee estimates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, (traffic emphasized) or other related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in traffic engineering projects
- Minimum 5 years leading and managing traffic engineering projects
- Proven ability to manage own workload and balance multiple simultaneous projects
- Deep understanding of public sector transportation/traffic project procurement across multiple agencies
- Ability to effectively lead proposal development and ability to form consultant partnerships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven success in a leadership role
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills
