HNTB is seeking an Engineer II to join our growing Minnesota Transit & Mobility section in 2026. Our group works with transit and passenger rail clients to deliver on a diverse program of projects through planning and design. WhatYou’ll Do
- Complete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
- Prepare and/or modify selected portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
- Develop project quantities and assist with the development of cost estimates.
- Assist engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
- Self‑sufficiently complete various tasks including research, data collection, field investigations, and design of projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in applying engineering, geometric and algebraic principles for BRT and/or LRT projects.
- Experience in preparing design and planning deliverables for transit agencies including Metro Transit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, and Micro Station and/or AutoCAD or other required software.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Knowledgeable in Micro Station/Open Roads and/or AutoCAD Civl3D, preferably with experience leveraging built‑in tools to expedite plan production.

PayThe approximate pay range for Minnesota is $78,138.74 – $. This is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
The approximate nationwide pay range for this position is $74,417.85 – $. This is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
