Minneapolis, MN | Direct Hire | $130,000-$160,000 | On-Site | 20-30% Travel
Konik is partnering with a well-respected, locally based construction and manufacturing firm to hire an Electrical Preconstruction Manager. This role is ideal for experienced electrical project managers and preconstruction leaders who are ready to step out of the project execution grind and move upstream into a role shaping electrical systems, supporting development of innovative construction solutions, and influencing how projects are built before they ever hit the field.
Electrical Preconstruction Manager Responsibilities
- Lead MEP design phase efforts for electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring constructability and efficiency from concept through implementation.
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to integrate design strategies into construction projects.
- Mentor preconstruction/design phase staff and provide technical guidance for complex systems.
- Develop and review project documentation, submittals, and specifications for electrical and low-voltage systems.
- Participate in estimating, scheduling, partner selection, and quality control planning.
- Facilitate coordination between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to maintain alignment with project goals.
- Support commissioning planning and implement design solutions that optimize constructability and project outcomes.
- Work with operations and engineering teams to support the development and implementation of innovative construction products and systems used on active projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 8-15 years of experience in electrical construction, project management, or preconstruction leadership.
- Proven ability to lead preconstruction and design phase efforts for large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, or data center projects is highly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and design-build processes.
- Experience coordinating design efforts utilizing BIM, VDC, Bluebeam, Revit, or similar construction technologies.
- Ability to travel 20-30% to project sites while collaborating effectively across multiple teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
