Description
Leidos is seeking Distribution Designers to work in Minneapolis, MN on the MYR Master Design Build contract. The role involves providing distribution design engineering for overhead and underground feeders across the client’s distribution footprint, developing construction work packages using GIS, CAD, WMS, and other client systems. The position is a temp‑to‑perm contractor with potential conversion to a direct Leidos employee after approximately 6 months.
Responsibilities- Work package development of overhead, underground residential distribution, cable/conduit, field visits, and field engineering of project requirements.
- Identify conflicting utilities and perform engineering and design calculations (structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, coordination of protective devices).
- Assist with forestry trimming requests, permit and right‑of‑way acquisition, BOM development, cost estimating, and customer advocacy such as easement acquisition or CIAC calculations.
- Perform post‑construction reviews and maintain client‑supplied documents and standards.
2‑year technical degree or H.S. Diploma with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with STORMS, Katapult, ESRI, AutoCAD, PDS, and GIS.
- Familiarity with pole‑loading software (DDS, O‑Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, LD Field).
- Strong communication skills with clients and project teams.
- Experience in 3rd‑party make‑ready design with electric utility distribution.
- Experience developing civil and electrical packages for 3rd‑party carriers.
- Strong math and ability to read various client‑supplied documents/standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Pay Range$35,100.00 - $63,450.00
