Overview
Stantec's multi-disciplinary office in Minneapolis, MN offers a full-time Water Resources Technician position requiring flexibility to work in the office and on construction sites. The majority of work will be in the Twin Cities metro area, with occasional travel to projects in Greater Minnesota or neighboring states.
Responsibilities- Conduct erosion control, stormwater, and environmental compliance inspections and documentation on active construction sites.
- Determine restoration methods for wetlands and ensure seed mixes conform to requirements of SWPPP, VMP, and AIMP.
- Monitor construction activity for noxious weed infestation, collect seed tags for final restoration, oversee stump removal, and identify erosion control methods with the SWPPP.
- Monitor, photograph, and document incoming equipment from contractors, ensuring cleanliness standards are met.
- Verify that wetlands are not adversely impacted during construction and monitor clearing activities to prevent over‑clearing.
- Document issues of noncompliance and work with construction personnel to implement corrective actions, ensuring QA/QC requirements are adhered to.
- Review and prepare erosion and sediment control plans and SWPPPs.
- Assist with NPDES program development and prepare MS4 permits and SWPPPs.
- Interpret federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Interact and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Assist in completion of technical reports.
- Actively participate in maintaining Stantec's safety culture, exercising stop‑work authority when activities are out of compliance.
- Monthly travel to project sites will be required.
- Knowledge of the Twin Cities metro area.
- Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent note‑taking and fundamental technical writing skills.
- Ability to work well in a team atmosphere and independently as required.
- Availability to work weekends as needed, dictated by weather and construction needs.
- Ability to travel to remote sites for extended periods.
- Working understanding of HSSE policies and procedures, including client‑specific training when required.
- Willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work.
- Previous field experience in construction site stormwater and utilities compliance is considered an asset.
- Current technical knowledge regarding construction site BMPs is a considered asset.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for stormwater and utility compliance is an asset.
- Knowledge of database management is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet motor vehicle records requirements; driving for business purposes required.
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 0‑2 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.

Locations in MN, OH, VT, & various CA, NY areas: $49,700.00 - $67,100.00 annually
Pay TransparencyIn compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
