We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support our Warning Lites Traffic Control operations. This position will work closely with the EHS Manager to support safety programs, DOT compliance, employee training, field safety initiatives, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities Safety & Training- Assist with the development and implementation of safety programs and training initiatives
- Conduct jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans
- Deliver safety training for employees and field personnel
- Support onboarding activities, including forklift, driver, and hazmat training
- Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices
- Provide field support and safety guidance to crews
- Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files, MVRs, and medical certifications
- Support DOT drug and alcohol testing programs
- Assist with Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and DOT audits
- Maintain required safety records, logs, and documentation
- Help ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and state regulatory requirements
- Investigate workplace incidents and determine root causes
- Complete incident documentation and reporting
- Assist with Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, General Liability, and Property Damage claims
- 2+ years of safety experience in construction, roadway, utility, or related industries
- Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and software-based systems
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience with traffic control operations and work zone safety
- Experience writing policies, procedures, and SOPs
- Safety trainer certifications
- Experience working in construction and general industry environments
