the Test Engineer/Sr. Test Engineer will be part of a US based validation testing to align current & upcoming product performance & durability with customer expectations. This position will play a key role in facilitating the confirmation of vehicle’s production readiness, in partnership with the CFMOTO R&D facility in Asia.

  • Lead the testing, reporting, & communication efforts of US based engineering group ensuring alignment with factory testing, engineering & product departments for a segment of the ORV business.
  • Assure the end customer’s voice, expectations & vehicle usage requirements are understood by the full engineering group.
  • Create & implement a comprehensive set of vehicle testing procedures for evaluation of current and future product performance; align those tests with peers at the CFMOTO testing facilities in China. Evaluation procedures should ensure vehicles meet customer requirements in real-world usage and conditions.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive and rigorous field test system of pass/fail & measurable acceptance/rejection criteria for testing (field and lab) new vehicles or revised current product.
  • Assist in the managing of staff members for daily workload, trip planning & logistics, performance expectations, while growing future internal testing capabilities
  • Contribute to the testing department facility requirements, deliverables & budgets for annual management approval.
  • Contribute product performance feedback and analysis to support the Product Manager’s continuous improvement database.
  • Support the NPD team as required for needs in lab or field testing of prototype, pre-production, and competitor vehicles.
  • Provides design and functional feedback throughout projects, to improve direction of the design & engineering team.
  • Enforce a 5S Lean workplace to maintain a clean and organized shop facility, and safety.
  • Coordinate logistics of test units, for storage, riding days and preparation for multiday test trips.
  • Responsible for operating within standard operating procedures and following all company health & safety guidelines.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Strong Technical background with the ability to create, develop & run complex testing scenarios requested by Product Management or R&D departments.
  • Strong understanding of the typical North American customer use-case and requirements.
  • Must be able to ride and evaluate off-road vehicles and be able to assess all areas of off-road vehicle performance.
  • 7+ years’ powersports riding experience
  • 3+ years’ previous experience in a similar role within the powersports, automotive or similar industry
  • Experience with data acquisition equipment in field testing environments, and general lab testing equipment
  • Familiar with ROHVA, SVIA, ANSI, NHTSA, and other standards relating to the safety & certifications of vehicles being developed, with adherence to relevant requirements.
  • Up to 20% national and international travel required.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of job‑related factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, certifications, education, location and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $90k-$130k annually. Our competitive salaries are just one component to CFMOTO’s total compensation package.
