We are seeking an enthusiastic Mid-Level Architect/Designer with 6 - 14 years’ experience, who thrives in a fast-paced and team-focused working environment. Employees of all levels are involved in every aspect of design from concept through construction. The ideal candidate is seeking advancement in their career and welcomes this opportunity to leverage Wendel’s established presence in the northeast region and grow our regional offices.
This position is open in our Minneapolis MN, and Eau Claire, WI offices.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to work autonomously to complete Design, Documentation and Construction Administration tasks on smaller projects, utilizing staff support as needed. Tasks include the preparation of drawings and specifications, field verification/assessment, making recommendations and writing reports.
- For larger projects of greater complexity, leads and supervises the work of a team, mentoring and guiding junior-level staff throughout the process. Coordinates closely with Project Technical Leads/PMs as required, to meet overarching project objectives.
- Strong design, detailing, technical skills and a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, International Building Codes, Life Safety Code and ADA requirements. Ability to develop envelope and code strategies that meet schedule and budget objectives, working autonomously or with Project Technical Leads.
- Conducts technical and design presentations to clients, agencies and stakeholders.
- Coordinates regularly with engineers, consultants and extended teams to ensure full coordination and timely delivery of all aspects of project. Able to coordinate directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinates with Project Technical Leads/PMs regarding project planning and staffing. Maintains understanding of project profitability and contract scope and identifies potential scope creep.
- Actively sells other services to existing clients and supports regional Business Development in a variety of market sectors and may assist in proposals and fee evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and non-licensed candidates that meet these criteria will be considered.
- Professional degree in Architecture and 6 years minimum related work experience.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills and success working within a team.
- Schedule-driven, ability to plan work of team to meet deliverables.
- Ability to identify issues, research/assess options and problem solve independently.
- Knowledge of REVIT, Bluebeam, Procore and cloud-based Spec Writing software.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.

Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000
Wendel is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.
