Job Summary
Senior Manufacturing Engineer responsible for production line support, monitoring process efficiencies, developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare Engineering Change Orders for processes, components, routes, and bill of materials.
- Generate and modify manufacturing process documentation.
- Determine methods and sequence of test operations and provide correlation between multiple fixtures for the same process step.
- Monitor output of complex automated alignment, calibration, and verification fixtures to judge conformance to process control plans.
- Apply manufacturing concepts such as Value Stream Mapping, 6S, and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput.
- Utilize analytical skills to identify, participate in, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve SQDC.
- Collaborate with development engineers to provide input in fixture development and production support and process validation.
- Utilize tools like Gage, R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes.
- Assist in the design and implementation of tooling fixtures for inspection and assembly of product.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment; resolve or facilitate resolution of problems, identify causes to prevent re-occurrence.
- Manage projects involving members of various departments to establish, document, and achieve project milestones.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- BS in engineering required – mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, and sciences.
- 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- 4 years experience working with design and manufacture of capital equipment preferred.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Experience with SAP ERP system preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of implementing Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Proficient in engineering software (Creo, MATLAB, and Minitab).
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical decision-making ability.
- Able to define and lead Design of Experiments (DOE) projects.
- Strong teamwork within department as well as external groups, e.g., new product development, production, purchasing, quality.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to leadership, peers, and other employees.
Office environment. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; requires close vision ability. Noise level is usually moderate.
Travel required:
estimated 5%.
