Position Overview
In this role, you will develop and support integrated strategic plans for gas and electric distribution systems by identifying collaboration opportunities, evaluating future scenarios and innovative solutions, and aligning resources, forecasts, and departmental priorities.
You will partner across teams to incorporate regulatory requirements, internal strategic direction, cost‑benefit considerations, and system constraints into cohesive planning efforts.
Strategic plans will integrate traditional resources with non‑traditional resources including demand response, non‑wires alternatives, non‑pipes alternatives, virtual power plants, energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, energy storage, and managed charging.
You will also communicate plans, recommendations, and process documentation to internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision‑making and continuous improvement. This position will work across both the gas and electric systems.
Position SummaryThis level requires extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related disciplines. The engineer acts as a staff advisor and consultant in a technical specialty, developing new or improved techniques, procedures, and equipment. Work is performed without appreciable direction, with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives. The position may assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, craft personnel, and administrative staff.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Apply extensive technical expertise and understanding of related disciplines.
- Demonstrate unique technical skills and core competencies at this engineering level.
- Lead projects of moderate to large size or portions of major projects.
- Provide field engineering oversight and direction for activities such as support, testing, installation, inspections, and commissioning.
- Coordinate or lead multiple projects or portions of projects, including research, design, equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Represent the organization as the prime technical contact in bid/evaluation processes, including preparation of bid documents and technical evaluations.
- Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters requiring coordination with internal and external organizations.
- Resolve difficult technical and business matters both inter‑organizationally and with outside customers or vendors.
- Assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, craft personnel, and support staff, and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
- Lead activities such as budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management in support of engineering projects.
- Support the development of technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET–accredited institution; electrical or civil engineering preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated broad knowledge and proficiency in a specialty area, knowledge of related specialties, and general knowledge of other disciplines.
- Demonstrated unique technical skills and core competencies for this level.
- EIT or FE strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering as above.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required; 7+ years without EIT/FE.

- Preferably holds a PE registration, which may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering as above.
- 9+ years of relevant engineering experience with PE registration required; 15+ years without PE.
- Demonstrated unique technical skills and core competencies for this level.
- Preferred PE registration required.
- Utility load simulation and resource modeling tools such as Encompass and LoadSEER.
The anticipated starting base pay for this position ranges from $81,000.00 to $ per year.
