What the Designer does for Spec Sys
  • Overall project responsibility, including:
    • Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications
    • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget
    • Customer management to understand expectations and standards
  • Working on multiple CAD packages
  • Creating detailed CAD models of manufactured components
  • Creating detailed CAD models of purchased parts
  • Reviewing CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability
  • Developing detail drawings of purchased components and assemblies
  • Developing detailed manufacturing drawings of pieces, weldments, assemblies, and schematics
  • Reviewing detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards
  • Generating Bill of Materials
  • Reviewing and updating model and drawing tolerances
  • Project CAD layout
  • Developing design concepts to perform project function reviews
  • Reviewing Bill of Materials for completeness
  • Specifying purchase components to be used
  • Sourcing purchase components to be used
  • Preparing CAD model for FEA analysis
  • Preparing project review booklets
  • Initiating and occasionally moderating project review meetings
  • Developing and updating project timelines
  • Reviewing project scope and ensuring project remains in line with contract and expectations
  • Updating and tracking action/issue items
  • Preparing Engineering Change Order proposals for submission to the customers
Candidate Profile
  • Ability to interact at a management level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality
  • Completed courses in trigonometry, mathematics, physics, machine shop, and drafting
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design Associate’s degree
  • Or any combination of education and experience that provides required skill and knowledge for successful performance
