Position Summary

The position is in the Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) within the Gas Governance organization. This entry‑level role develops technical expertise in a specific area of specialty, performing work on conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment with limited complexity. Activities are of limited scope, requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the narrow area of assignments. The engineer may lead small‑medium, non‑critical projects and provide field oversight of critical projects under the direction of a higher‑level engineer or supervisor.

Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. As proficiency is gained, the engineer may work on portions of larger projects while acting under supervision and following established procedures. The role may also supervise or coordinate the work of interns, drafters, craft personnel, technicians and/or others.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities of limited scope.
  • Supports development of technical documentation (designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards, etc.) and may assist with procedure development.
  • Provides ongoing technical support for project activities within Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, etc. and may provide field engineering oversight for commissioning, testing, inspections under direct supervision.
  • Coordinates or leads projects or portions of projects (research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation and commissioning) under a higher level engineer or supervisor.
  • Supports bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation and materials, effectively communicating with other business areas following appropriate processes.
  • Effectively exchanges information in all formats on matters of wide importance and complexity, both inter‑organizationally and with outside customers/vendors.
  • May coordinate the work of interns, drafters, technicians, and/or others and provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers; responsible for continuous self‑development of technical skills and competencies.
  • May perform activities such as budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, work order management in support of engineering projects.
Entry Level

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
  • 0+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level established and documented by the organization.
  • Preferred: EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering).
Staff Level

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience, demonstrating broad knowledge and proficiency in the specialty area, related specialties, and general knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level.
  • EIT/FE strongly preferred.
Senior Level

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • EIT/FE required.
  • Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) registration may be required depending on business need.
Preferred Requirements For All Levels
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
  • Familiarity with API RP 1173 – Pipeline Safety Management Systems.
Salary

Anticipated starting base pay: $70,000.00 to $ per year.
