Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to take control of their career potential in our Upper Midwest Region. This position will partner with a multi-discipline team to develop designs of electrical substations to support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity.
Opportunities may include, but are not limited to:
Thinking creatively to address the complex challenges faced by municipal, cooperative, and investor-owned utilities, developers, and other transmission asset owners.
Innovating project approach to optimize safety, schedule, and profitability.
Participate in developing project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing plans, and construction plans.
Mentoring less experienced engineers in their technical and professional development.
Performing quality control reviews for other engineers and designers.
Developing innovative processes, tools, and design solutions.
Leading/Overseeing site grading and stormwater management designs.
Leading/Overseeing the development of permitting documentation.
Supporting clients during permitting and construction.
Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
Leading a team of multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
Presenting designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, public interest groups, etc.
Preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and permitting documents, which may include model outputs, exhibits, and correspondence.
Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling with the ability to adapt to various site conditions.
Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Leading project proposal efforts.
Advancing into leadership roles.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of civil engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
Or Bachelor's degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 7 years of civil engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
Or Master's degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years of civil engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, Micro Station, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
Ability to travel.
Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
$- Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
