Research and Development Technician

Satellite Industries is seeking a hands-on Research and Development Technician to support design, testing, and improvement of portable sanitation products. In this role, you will build prototypes, perform mechanical and field-simulation tests, collect and analyze data, and document results to guide engineering decisions. You'll collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and customer service teams to turn operator feedback into durable, reliable solutions. Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, comfortable with tools and lab equipment, and motivated by practical, real-world problem solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D projects by building and testing portable sanitation prototypes and components
• Conduct structured product, durability, and field-simulation tests; record and analyze results
• Document findings, prepare test reports, and communicate issues to engineers and product managers
• Assist in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities for existing products
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and customer service teams to translate field feedback into design improvements
• Maintain lab equipment, tools, fixtures, and a safe, organized test environment
• Prepare test samples and fixtures, and support pilot builds or limited production runs
• Help validate new materials, coatings, and assembly methods under real-world conditions
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to review test plans, timelines, and results
• Support global customer trials, including packaging, shipping, and follow-up on performance feedback
