TheOpportunity
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design aspects of New Product Development programs (NPD) and Sustaining products throughout their entire lifecycle. The chosen candidate will own the mechanical architecture and design execution, along with processes, tools, and metrics used for new product development and on-going sustaining programs.
Key Responsibilities:Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with at least 3 years developing electro-mechanical products.
- Experience using PTC Creo and Windchill (Solidworks)
- Due to contractual agreements, must be a US citizen, green card holder, or permanent resident.
- Advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Platformed product development desired.
- Strong mechanical discipline knowledge with experience in mechanical engineering design analyses (particularly tolerance analyses and FEA) and testing methods.
- Experience working with vendors in design for manufacturability in die/investment casting, injection molding, machining, assembly, and troubleshooting manufacturing defects in defective materials reviews.
- Knowledge of design practices, methodologies, tools, and instruments preferably for regulated products. High hazard application (Industrial Life Safety, SIL2, explosion-proof enclosure) knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Experience with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508) and Functional Safety certified is desired.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with project stakeholders (Product Managers, Customers, and other Engineers).
- Skilled in collaborating with other engineers to distill market needs into defined technical requirements, system/subsystem/component architectures, and verification/ validation test plans.
- Demonstrated root cause analysis skills (Lean Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams).
- Experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drawing best practices.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently on assignments to foster continuous improvement of team functions and deliverables.
- Experienced with FMEAs and developing control techniques to mitigate risks.
Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to support process improvement activities.
