TheImpact You'll Have:
Alliant Engineering, Inc., is seeking anMOT Engineer with experience developing construction phasing and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans to join our transportation team in our Minneapolis, Minnesota office. This role will work in conjunction with Project Managers, peer Engineers and CADD team members to coordinate the MOT design with other project disciplines to meet deadlines for projects throughout Minnesota and other regions as needed.
We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented transportation engineer who has a passion for thinking out-of-the-box to develop innovative construction staging alternatives. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of MnDOT’s Facility Design Guide, the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, the MnMUTCD, and MnDOT’s work zone and temporary traffic control design resources. They will routinely engage with project Owners, Contractors, and stakeholders to collaboratively develop optimal temporary traffic control solutions.
Responsibilities:- Be a valuable member of a cohesive project team that develops MOT, construction staging, and traffic control plans on complex traditional or alternative delivery projects.
- Generate innovative construction staging alternatives that optimize traffic operations while maximizing constructability and safety.
- Develop temporary construction plans, including roadway geometrics, alignments, profiles, models, and drainage.
- Develop traffic control plans, including temporary signing, striping, safety devices, and detours.
- Author Traffic Management Plans (TMP) to analyze and document impacts and mitigation techniques to businesses, residents, and surrounding roadway systems.
- Work closely with contractors and owners to understand constructability needs and project MOT goals.
- Mentor less experienced team members and promote the growth of their technical skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain MN licensure within 6 months
- 4+ years of progressive experience developing MOT, construction staging, or traffic control design and plans
- Experienced manager and mentor to staff
- Strong working technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Technical expertise using Microstation/Geopak and Open Roads Designer on transportation projects
- Commitment to delivering high-quality work on schedule
- Design-Build or CM/GC experience preferred
