Sky Water is partnering with a privately held electronics manufacturer in the Twin Cities metro to hire a Project Engineer for their growing team! Our client has been in business over 40 years, and they provide cable/wire harnesses & box-build contract manufacturing services for prominent aerospace/defense customers. They’re currently in a high-growth phase driven by new customer acquisitions business after landing a new multimillion-dollar contract earlier this year.
This is a newly created position built to bring dedicated engineering and customer-facing support to their most demanding projects. We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who’s comfortable splitting time between the production floor and working directly with customers. - Own mechanical assembly, tooling/fixturing, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews for box-build programs.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, providing regular program updates and managing customer relationships.
- Work the production floor alongside operators and quality to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
- Partner cross-functionally on quoting and documentation throughout the program lifecycle.
- Represent the company on customer site visits as needed.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 1+ year of mechanical engineering, project engineering, manufacturing engineering or a similar engineering role.
- Comfortable in a customer-facing capacity, with strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
- Willing to wear multiple hats and adapt as the role & company scale.
- Experience working in aerospace/defense, electronics or similar manufacturing industry preferred.
