Reports to: Luminary Arts Center Assistant Director
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Hours: Tuesday – Sunday, primarily nights and weekends, variable, typically 5-15 hrs/wk
Hourly wage: $18.00 General

SummaryThe Front of House Associate (FOH Associate) is a part-time position providing excellent customer service to Luminary Arts Center (LAC) patrons by creating a welcoming environment, serving concessions, handling money (cash and credit cards, but no checks), supervising patrons within the theater, and assisting with parking lot facilitation on a rotating basis. The FOH Associate will have excellent customer service ability, knowledge of current LAC performances and concessions, and the ability to stay calm during intermission and in emergencies.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional, concierge-style customer service for patrons at the Luminary, during performances and events.
- Provide clear and accurate information to patrons regarding policies, parking, current performances, and concessions offerings.
- Serve as a Minnesota Opera ambassador by facilitating and filling orders.
- Ensure all state and federal laws are followed when serving and/or handling alcohol and food.
- Maintain patron safety through knowledge of LAC safety and security procedures.
- Assist with parking lot signage, receiving payments, and checking for appropriate vehicles as needed on a rotating basis.
- Make recommendations to help build patron affinity.
- Field customer service issues, record feedback, and communicate pertinent information to managers.
- Assist with maintenance of the Luminary Arts Center.
- Contribute to team projects by completing related tasks as needed.
- This position requires frequent evenings and weekends with scheduling flexibility.
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- Must be able to move through the LAC comfortably and frequently; this role is not desk-based.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to position self to pick up objects from floor, retrieve items from lower shelves, and bring to counter height and perform similar movements.
- Reliable transportation to the LAC is required.
- This position is in-person at the LAC on a regular basis.
- Must be certified to sell and handle alcohol; MN Opera provides training for those who do not already possess certification.
- Exemplary customer service and sales ability (required).

- Engaging personality with strong work ethic, discretion, maturity, and composure.
- Knowledge of handling orders through Square (preferred).
- Enthusiasm for working with a wide variety of art forms, organizations, and audiences.
- Front of house, service, hospitality, or retail experience (preferred).
- Strong communication, quantitative, and organizational skills.
- Ability to stay calm in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Minnesota Opera is willing to teach policies and procedures specific to Luminary Arts Center and MN Opera, Square sales system, and alcohol serving/food handling procedures.
