The Staff Accountant will support day‑to‑day financial operations across accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and reporting. This role offers exposure to fleet activity, operational cost analysis, and revenue cycles while collaborating closely with teams across the business.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable- Collect, organize, and verify financial/operational data (fuel activity, maintenance reporting, freight invoices, operational metrics)
- Prepare accurate customer invoicing using multiple systems
- Manage and track customer AR balances
- Review AR workflows and recommend improvements
- Assist in monitoring key operational KPIs (fuel efficiency, utilization, delivery metrics)
- Prepare standard ERP‑based reports for internal teams
- Process vendor bills and monitor purchase orders
- Support basic variance analysis on costs such as fuel, labor, maintenance
- Document and understand existing processes across the logistics finance function
- Learn industry‑specific accounting practices and operational terminology
- Collaborate with operational teams to understand financial impacts of daily activity
- Identify opportunities for workflow improvement and simple automation
- Assist with assigned reconciliations
- Support month‑end close tasks
- Contribute to project‑based analysis and operational reporting as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field — or 5 years of relevant experience
- 0–1 year of professional experience (internships strongly preferred)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient in Excel (formulas, organization, simple reporting)
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
- Analytical, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently or in a team
- Internship experience in accounting, finance, or logistics
- Familiarity with ERP or financial reporting tools
- Basic exposure to supply chain or transportation concepts
- Professional office environment within the Twin Cities metro area
- Regular interaction with cross‑functional teams, customers, and vendors
- Occasional evening or weekend work depending on business needs
- Ability to perform standard office tasks (computer work, sitting/standing, light lifting)
