Head of Accounting & Finance

Our client is an established and growing design, build, and project management company working with the top retailers in the country. The company is profitable and experiencing considerable growth. We are seeking a Head of Finance & Accounting to lead the finance function and manage a team. This role will report to the President. This is an onsite role based in the greater Minneapolis area.

• $9 figure revenue, profitable and well capitalized
• Strong growth trajectory across diverse and established customer base
• M&A strategy in place with current and future add-on acquisitions in process
• Accounting support team in place and systems are implemented

Seeking a corporate accounting and finance professional that can operate in a fast-moving environment. This is a top accounting and finance role with a strong Assistant Controller and support team in place.

• Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency.
• Support President and ELT with long-term planning and forecasting.
• Collaborate with departmental heads on all areas of budgeting, sales forecasting; improving the planning process.
• Prepare annual budgets, work closely with leadership on monthly reporting and guidance. Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and coordinating audit activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP).
• Proficiency in accounting software, such as MS Dynamics or similar platforms.
• Job Cost Accounting a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
