Overview

The Accountant is primarily responsible for managing and recording daily financial transactions including the preparation of the bi-weekly payroll allocation into the general ledger, assists finance managers in the monthly and yearly financial close process including reconciliations, and assists in the annual operating and capital budgeting process.

Responsibilities
  • Record daily bank transactions (deposits and payments) in GL
  • Prepare the bi-weekly allocation of payroll data to the GL
  • Process cash receipts (deposit checks, cash) as necessary
  • Enter wire payments in accounting software and electronic donations in fundraising software
  • Enter daily museum retail store activity in GL
  • Review AP and AR aging reports and follow up with staff responsible for pending transactions
  • Invoice outside entities for accounts receivable
  • Assist finance managers in the monthly, and yearly financial close process including account reconciliation
  • Assist in annual budgeting process

Specific Requirements
  • B.

    A. or B.S. in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years of accounting experience. Not for profit experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word and Excel; advanced Excel skills including v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work responsibly with confidential information.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software and other accounting applications.
  • Experience in organizations with 10+M budgets preferable
