The Corporate Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and cash management functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe job description below outlines the primary responsibilities and is not intended to be all encompassing. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
FINANCIAL- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting functions including review of all corporate payables, intercompany billings, and property chargebacks, as needed.
- Oversee corporate treasury operations, including cash management and reporting to owners, and issuing payment to all vendors
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing
- Manage real estate commission processes, reconciliations, reporting, and related commissions payable and commission billings.
- Oversee corporate credit card administration and spending
- Prepare journal entries as needed.
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts and select income statement accounts.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reports and account analyses for operating entities of Schafer Richardson.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closings.
- Collaborate frequently with other department leaders regarding new processes, financial results, budgeting, and any financial related questions
- Manage the portfolio-wide annual insurance renewal processes
- Ownership of annual budget preparation and semi-annual forecasts of operating results.
- Work with internal staff and external auditors to provide necessary information for the preparation and coordination of annual audits and tax returns.
- Continuously suggest and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and automation
- Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
- Provide leadership and direction to accounting support staff.
- Manage team performance in accordance with Company policies and business practices by mentoring, training, and preparing annual performance reviews.
- Supervise activities of direct reports.
- Make appropriate staffing and salary recommendations to the CFO.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Experience in multiple entity environment is a plus.
- Five or more years of senior-level accounting experience including management of general ledger, budgeting, financial reporting, payables, and receivables.
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) preferred.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining flexibility when priorities change.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite and other business applications.
- Ability to work with people at all levels in the organization, with a commitment to collaborating on cross-functional teams with energy and drive to deliver objectives accurately & timely.
- Professional presentation, conduct, oral and written communication skills.
- Work independently, exercise sound judgement when making decisions and escalating issues.
