Overview

Minneapolis-based investment management firm seeks a full-time, experienced corporate credit analyst to assist the team in managing $12 billion in taxable assets. Responsibilities include performing fundamental credit analysis on corporations (potentially including high yield), conducting surveillance on existing fixed income holdings, and providing timely investment recommendations to portfolio managers.

The role may evolve to include trading corporate bonds for varying fixed income strategies, analyzing security structures, financial covenants and legal provisions, and distributing summaries of financial analysis performed. The analyst will help the team evaluate, develop and implement tools and practices used to enhance the research and portfolio management process and may work on special projects; back-up trading for other team members is also a possibility.

Responsibilities
  • Perform fundamental credit analysis on corporations, potentially including high yield.
  • Conduct surveillance on existing fixed income holdings and provide timely investment recommendations to portfolio managers.
  • As scope evolves, trade corporate bonds for varying fixed income strategies and analyze security structure, financial covenants and legal provisions.
  • Distribute summaries of financial analyses and contribute to tools, practices, and processes used in research and portfolio management.
  • Assist with special projects and provide back-up trading support for team members as needed.
Qualifications
  • Five or more years of financial analysis experience.
  • MBA or CFA required.
  • Strong math and analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to work independently in a high-energy environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Bloomberg; familiarity with closed-end bond funds is desired.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base salary range: $80,000–$120,000 per year.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance; 401k; transportation assistance; and paid time off.
  • Position is full-time and on-site.
