Role Purpose

The Programs Finance & Grants Specialist works within the U. S. Enterprise team and its grants set to bridge the gap between program strategy, funding acquisition, and financial compliance. Working closely with the U. S. Enterprise Co‑Directors, the position ensures programs are well‑designed, impactful, and supported by funding while staying within budget and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Manage administrative relationships with grantors/donors and lead communication on administrative or contractual matters.
  • Serve as liaison between U. S. Enterprise and Alight’s Platform Services; point of contact for Accounting during monthly, quarterly and annual budget meetings.
  • Work closely with Grants Management Unit to review and sign donor agreements, process sub‑agreements, set up new awards in relevant systems, and establish budgets, billing codes, and grants folders.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Engagement Team to monitor private donations designated for U. S. Enterprise programs; ensure accurate coding and reporting.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all financial matters relating to U. S. Enterprise.
  • Manage grant reporting calendar, coordinating communication and reminders for upcoming reports.
  • Coordinate government proposal submissions and narrative reports, and submit financial reports to non‑governmental donors.
  • Support Marketing and Engagement Manager in grant submissions and financial components.
  • Assist with developing proposal budgets and review their financial soundness.
  • Monitor spending and burn rates across U. S. Enterprise’s portfolio; track expenditures, run budget v. actual and general ledger reports; ensure correct coding.
  • Coordinate monthly budget meetings with program managers and Co‑Directors; guide team to comply with donor terms.
  • Support Co‑Directors in developing and managing the annual operating budget and forecast.
  • Process financial reconciliations expense reports and support teammates through reconciliation.
  • Lead procurement of equipment, supplies, gift cards, etc., and hire vendors/contractors, ensuring proper paperwork is collected, filed, and closed out.
  • Lead in managing and monitoring the U. S. Enterprise staffing plan, manage staff billing codes and communicate time allocation changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in grants management, nonprofit finance or a closely related role, with proven experience managing grant portfolios across program and finance functions.
  • Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and highly organized with a respect for numerical accuracy.
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter thriving in a dynamic, mission‑driven environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; advanced Excel skills a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience.
