Chief Financial Officer – Nonprofit Industry Experience

The Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice is looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer for our growing group in Minneapolis, MN.

• Perform CFO functions as part of the client’s accounting services team.
• Identify and implement best practices related to services provided to add value to the client.
• Work with the client to set financial policy and be an active participant and driver of overall strategy.
• Drive capital planning, risk management, ratio and KPI analysis, and board of director interactions.
• Lead financial administration, planning, and budgeting including longer‑term budget planning and cost management.
• Monitor progress of budgets and present operational metrics.
• Ensure financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
• Coordinate audit activities.
• Effectively manage multiple client engagements.
• Build strong client relationships and become a key member of the client management team.
• Develop a key external business network and become a service and industry thought leader.

• 8 years of relevant experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or equivalent.
• Nonprofit industry experience highly preferred.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required; combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Quick Books Online highly preferred.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment and skilled in multitasking.

This position offers a hybrid and flexible working environment; you may be required to work at client locations or in the office depending on project needs. The role also includes travel to client sites.

Competitive wages are offered, with a salary range in Minnesota of $117,000 – $219,000 per year. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact the final pay within this range.
