Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join the Reinsurance Finance team. The role focuses on reinsurance administration, accounting, and reporting, offering collaboration with internal teams and external reinsurers.
Responsibilities- Administer reinsurance agreements, including preparing and compiling reinsurance settlements using the admin system and ledger data.
- Analyze reinsurance results, accounting, and recording reinsurance activities.
- Contribute to financial close cycles by reviewing and analyzing reinsurance operating results.
- Onboard new reinsurance treaties: review draft agreements, create reports, partner with internal teams to finalize accounting conclusions, and operationalize agreements.
- Maintain and configure new agreements in the reinsurance system.
- Interact with reinsurers and third‑party administrators to ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of reports received.
- Deliver succinct and clear summarizations of analysis tailored to different customers.
- Participate in internal and external audit testing.
- Ensure reinsurance processes, accounting, and reporting comply with SOX and audit standards, maintaining effective controls.
- Proactively identify, design, and implement process improvements using strong technical expertise.
- Support other team members, including reviewing offshore work.
- Manage multiple, often competing priorities under tight deadlines, working with large, complex Excel files and translating data into meaningful analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; CPA preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in reinsurance analysis, financial reporting, and accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience working with admin systems and ledger data.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of AI tools used to support financial analysis, reporting, and productivity (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar).
- Knowledge of GAAP and statutory reporting.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to balance quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Oracle or other complex ERP financial systems and Excel‑based reporting tools (e.g., Oracle Smart View).
- Experience with Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence or similar financial analytics platforms.
Annual base salary range: $78,990 – $98,740 USD. Additionally, Voya offers incentive opportunities based on role performance.
