Overview
CLA is looking for a Controller with logistics industry experience to join the Client Accounting & Advisory Services practice in Minneapolis, MN.
Responsibilities- Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting activities.
- Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities for the organization.
- Prepare and/or direct the preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, and reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate needs for procurement of funds, investment of surpluses, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI) and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
- Advise management on short‑term and long‑term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
- Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, and other stakeholders, including preparing for and hosting board presentations.
Bachelor’s degree required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of a degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
Minimum six years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience; logistics industry experience highly preferred. Public accounting experience preferred. Proficiency in accounting software and systems is required;
Quick Books experience is highly preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related applications.
Primarily in‑office work with local travel to client sites and occasional non‑local or overnight travel.
Skills & Knowledge- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting.
- Strong organization skills, goal orientation, and self‑motivation.
- Ability to handle pressure in a positive professional manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and clear, concise communication.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and value diverse contributions.
- Proven success in managing work and key client relationships to exceed client expectations.
Compensation range for Minnesota: $93,000.00 – $.
