About the Job
Investment Associate / Senior Investment Associate – Growth Strategies. The role is focused on researching and analyzing public equity and private capital (private equity and venture capital) opportunities within the Endowment portfolio. The associate will assist the Senior Investment Director with portfolio management and program administration, applying advanced financial analysis, market research, and investment modeling to real‑world decisions.
Hybrid position: at least three days per week in the office. H‑1B sponsorship is not available; H‑1B holders eligible for transfer may be considered.
Responsibilities- Existing Portfolio Monitoring & Management (50%)
- Engage with existing Growth Managers for ongoing monitoring and due diligence.
- Review quarterly reports, statements, and newsletters to maintain knowledge of fund performance drivers.
- Build and maintain relationships with fund managers, compile pre‑meeting materials, and produce accurate post‑meeting notes.
- Travel to attend annual meetings and ad‑hoc meetings with fund managers as needed.
- New Investment Sourcing & Underwriting (25%)
- Support the Senior Investment Director in identifying and evaluating prospective investment opportunities.
- Conduct market mapping, peer networking, and screen new investment managers.
- Perform deep qualitative and quantitative due diligence, performance evaluation, and risk assessment.
- Draft Investment Memos for presentation to the Investment Team.
- Coordinate with Middle and Back‑office functions to complete investments and establish monitoring processes.
- Portfolio, Data Analysis & Operational Support (25%)
- Assist the Senior Investment Director and Chief Investment Officer with portfolio management matters.
- Develop, update, and maintain models, spreadsheets, and dashboards related to portfolio, managers, and exposures.
- Support thematic research projects and quarterly Investment Advisory Committee materials.
- Support investment activities of other capital pools managed by OIB and perform ad‑hoc administrative tasks.
- Senior Investment Associate Expanded Responsibilities
- Carry out the responsibilities above with limited day‑to‑day direction and independent workflow management.
- Exercise independent judgment on complex, high‑stakes aspects, engaging the Senior Investment Director selectively.
- Take ownership of accuracy, quality, timeliness, and outcomes of shared responsibilities.
- Relevant years of experience:
- Investment Associate: BA/BS plus at least six years of relevant experience.
- Senior Investment Associate: BA/BS plus at least eight years of relevant experience.
- Experience in public equity, private equity, or venture capital.
- Progress toward or completion of CFA, CAIA, or MBA is a plus and may count toward experience requirements.
- Strong interest in investment industry, portfolio theory, and global capital markets.
- Strong intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and data‑driven approach to analysis.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Experience in conducting research and organizing findings.
- Solid knowledge of Excel, database tools, AI applications, and other relevant technology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with a small team.
- Solid oral, written, and presentation skills – ability to state and support a thesis.
- Strong work ethic and professional maturity.
- Commitment to high standards of moral and ethical behavior.
- Pay Range: $140,000 – $230,000, plus participation in OIB incentive compensation program.
