Summary

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in overseeing all financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and adherence to financial regulations and standards. This position is responsible for the oversight of the hotel's Finance Department’s day-to-day operations, maintaining internal controls, partnering with managers on expense management and general ledger operations, providing training to finance team members and special projects as assigned, in line with Hyatt Corporate standards while meeting guest and owner expectations.

Other responsibilities include preparing and reviewing all journal entries, month-end reports, and reconciliations; reviewing preliminary financial statements with the Director of Finance; participating in monthly financial reviews and supporting presentation of reports; supervising Finance and Procurement staff and the Information Technology functions of the hotel; coaching and counseling associates; interviewing, training, and evaluating performance of staff; managing hotel on/off‑site accounting functions, including financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and cash management;

systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings, and full P&L responsibility; assisting with SOX compliance; managing audit processes; preparing monthly and annual financial statements; investigating variance explanations; and supporting special reporting and ad hoc analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review all journal entries, month‑end reports, and reconciliations.
  • Review preliminary financial statements with the Director of Finance.
  • Participate in monthly financial reviews and support the Director of Finance with presentation of reports.
  • Supervise Finance, Procurement, and IT staff, coaching and counseling to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures, including interviewing, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Manage hotel on/off‑site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting, and analysis.
  • Handle systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings, and full P&L responsibility.
  • Assist with managing and ensuring SOX compliance – monitor internal controls and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage the audit process – participate in and respond to auditor requests.
  • Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements, investigate, review and analyze variance explanations, and involve department staff.
  • Proactively manage troubleshooting for relevant cost controls and revenue enhancements.
  • Support the Director of Finance with special reporting and ad hoc analysis.
Qualifications
  • 3 years or more of finance career progression; preferred experience in hospitality, retail, or related industry.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, Business or related field preferred.
  • Experience supervising/directing staff members.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
