What You Do

Reporting to the CEO of Allianz Investment Management (AIM) U.S. and Chief Investment Officer of Allianz Life, you will provide executive oversight of investment management for approximately $165B in assets. Your responsibilities include leading end-to-end investment capabilities across Asset Liability Management (ALM), Portfolio and Liquidity Management, Analytics & Reporting, Capital Markets, and external asset manager sourcing, oversight and engagement. You will shape investment strategy, make significant discretionary decisions impacting portfolio performance and risk, and provide strategic insights for our insurance clients while partnering closely with senior executive leadership and key internal and external stakeholders.

• Lead Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management:
  Define and execute investment strategy for ~$165B in assets, overseeing portfolio construction, asset allocation, and performance across all managed portfolios to ensure optimized performance, income, and liquidity. Ensure prudent processes, governance and compliance related to trading strategies.
• Oversee ALM & Strategic Asset Allocation:
  Direct Asset Liability Management (ALM) and Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) to optimize asset liability alignment, total balance sheet capital efficiency, and other relevant financial KPIs in partnership with actuarial, finance and risk functions.
• Drive Capital Markets, Investment Insights & Manager Oversight:
  Develop investment strategies grounded in macroeconomic and capital markets analysis and deliver forward‑looking insights to inform enterprise growth and executive decision‑making. Develop affiliate and non‑affiliate external asset manager strategy, and oversee asset managers, including selection, governance, and performance management.
• Govern Investment Analytics:
  Ensure robust analytics and reporting across portfolios, including performance, risk, and capital metrics. Perform regular market competitive analysis and maintain appropriate benchmark information. Continuously review, optimize and expand tech stack, including AI applications, to improve investment management decision‑making processes.
• Leadership:
  Build a high‑performing organization with strong leadership at all levels. Develop a comprehensive people strategy focused on fostering an inclusive environment, attracting and retaining top talent, maintaining strong employee engagement, and enabling continuous employee and leadership development. Partner with leaders and key stakeholders across Allianz Life and global entities to drive alignment, governance, and outcomes.
• Utilize artificial intelligence tools and resources, such as generative AI, to enhance investment processes.

• 11+ years of experience in investment management, including Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Asset Management and ALM.
• Four‑year degree required: MBA, Finance, Accounting, Business Actuarial, or equivalent.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future (including holders of H‑1B, H4, L‑1, L‑2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other non‑immigrant visas).

Base salary range: $300,000 – $405,000. The role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. Final base salary will be determined based on geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education, with consideration of internal equity.
