Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Plymouth, MN. The Vice President of Finance is the senior financial leader for the company and a key advisor to the CEO and executive team. This is a highly hands-on role responsible for leading the day-to-day financial operations of the business while contributing to strategic planning, financing activities, and long-term growth initiatives. The successful candidate will be comfortable producing financial reports, managing cash flow, strengthening accounting processes and internal controls, and working closely with a small finance team in a fast-growing entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting including variance analysis and commentary for senior leadership and investors
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports for sales, discounts, and commissions ready to be distributed to commercial partners
  • Coordinate tax returns and corporate compliance with outside partners
  • Maintain capital and note records in coordination with outside attorneys and coordinate with lawyers and investors for finance raises and renewals.
  • Maintain systems and controls necessary to ensure proper books and records for a medical device manufacturer with controls around inventory and production
Cash Management
  • Maintain banking relationships for cash management
  • Create cash flow reports and forecasts and collaborate on inventory and capital timing with Operations and senior leadership
  • Oversee payroll processing and bank reconciliations
  • Oversee invoicing and AR collections to maintain DSO and cashflow
  • Manage controls around the AP functions and oversee payments, including making international, financing, tax and benefits payments
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage annual budget process across all departments and re-forecasts as necessary
  • Create and maintain KPI dashboards to track business performance
Strategic Planning & Leadership
  • Advise CEO and executive team on capital allocation priorities
  • Prepare quarterly reports for the board of directors and investors
  • Lead and coordinate M&A responses with the leadership team
  • Complete annual insurance coverage renewal and review coverage levels
  • Manage annual open enrollment process and benefit cost increases
  • Coordinate insurance certification with customers and vendors
  • Plan, develop and implement human resource policies that maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Maintain policies and procedures with assistance from outside attorneys
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field; CPA strongly preferred, MBA a plus.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP and financial reporting.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience in a small to mid-sized, growing company where a hands-on approach is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience managing general accounting, cash flow, banking relationships, AP/AR, inventory accounting, COGS, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll oversight.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Medical device, manufacturing, or other regulated industry experience preferred.
