Wealth Trust Services manages and serves trust relationships within the Affluent Segment. Wealth Trust Services is seeking a Trust Manager responsible for overseeing a team of Trust Officers and Trust Associates that manage trust and investment accounts. The role leads a team-based service model in which Trust Officers and Portfolio Managers collaborate on the relationship management of trust affluent clients. The Trust Manager is accountable for translating Wealth Trust Services and Personal Trust priorities into clear team expectations, disciplined execution, consistent client service, and measurable business results.
The Trust Manager serves as a senior escalation and decision-support resource for complex trust and estate administration matters, client and beneficiary concerns, fee questions, service issues, account acceptance or transition considerations, and matters requiring coordinated action across fiduciary, investment, tax, operations, legal, risk, compliance, specialty asset, banking, and other internal partners. The role requires sound fiduciary judgment, strong governing-document interpretation, practical knowledge of applicable trust laws and procedures, and the ability to communicate complex matters clearly.
The Trust Manager leads through coaching, accountability, collaboration, and visible engagement. The incumbent hires, develops, and retains talent; manages workload and capacity; champion growth opportunities, retention, and inflow; supports business continuity; and advances improvements to processes, controls, and technology; and ensures the team deepens existing client relationships. The Trust Manager also represents Wealth Trust Services with internal partners, prospects, clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, advisors, and centers of influence.
Core Responsibilities
- People leadership and talent management:
Lead, coach, engage, and develop Trust Officers and other assigned employees. Establish clear expectations; conduct timely performance and development discussions; support succession planning; make sound hiring decisions; recognize strong performance; and address performance or conduct concerns in accordance with company practices. - Regional business leadership:
Lead the assigned Wealth Trust Services region or team and represent its needs, risks, opportunities, and results. Translate enterprise, Personal Trust, and Wealth Trust Services priorities into plans, team goals, and consistent execution. - Work allocation, capacity, and operating discipline:
Set priorities, assign work, manage coverage and schedules, monitor capacity, and provide appropriate oversight so fiduciary, client-service, and operating responsibilities are completed accurately and timely. - Fiduciary administration oversight:
Oversee the administration of revocable and irrevocable trusts, charitable trusts, special needs trusts, estates, individual retirement accounts, agencies, custodial relationships, and other supported fiduciary or investment accounts. Confirm that administration is consistent with governing documents, applicable law, fiduciary standards, approved terms, and bank policies and procedures. - Complex matter escalation and resolution:
Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex administrative questions, discretionary matters, beneficiary and family dynamics, complaints, service breakdowns, trust terminations, account transitions, tax or closing dependencies, specialty-asset matters, and other sensitive situations. Evaluate relevant facts, coordinate the appropriate partners, document decisions, and drive issues to resolution. - Risk, control, and compliance leadership:
Identify and address emerging fiduciary, operational, financial, client, conduct, information-security, and reputational risks. Escalate concerns through appropriate channels, reinforce required controls and training, oversee remediation, and support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics, and business-line policies and procedures. - Client and beneficiary experience:
Promote proactive, accurate, and consistent communication with clients and beneficiaries. Ensure the team explains fiduciary decisions and administrative requirements clearly, responds to concerns, coordinates follow-up, and delivers service consistent with the responsibilities of a corporate fiduciary and Wealth Management organization. - Relationship retention and growth:
