Senior Manufacturing Cost Analyst

Responsibilities

• Oversee valuation and reporting of inventory, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Develop and implement inventory cost accounting methods, including standard costing, work-in-process, and finished goods
• Monitor inventory turnover and manage excess and obsolete inventory
• Participate in quarterly on-site inventory counts with operations
• Analyze COGS and monitor variances, recommending corrective actions to maintain optimal profit margins
• Work with production teams to identify cost drivers and inefficiencies and track direct materials, labor, and overhead
• Perform detailed manufacturing cost analysis and recommend cost-saving measures
• Develop reports tracking manufacturing cost performance, trends, and improvement areas
• Prepare cost estimates for new products, production changes, and manufacturing capital investments
• Oversee analysis and accounting of warranty expenses and collaborate on reducing warranty claims
• Manage and analyze inbound and outbound freight costs and optimize distribution networks
• Prepare and present reports to senior management and plant managers on manufacturing costs, inventory, COGS, warranty claims, and freight expenditures
• Assist with manufacturing-cost budgeting and forecasting
• Provide financial insights for production planning and cost-control decisions
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing costing
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other cross-functional teams
• Identify cost-efficiency opportunities through process reengineering and automation

• Certificate/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Engineering Degree is acceptable with relevant experience
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on inventory, COGS, and cost control
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex cost structures, including direct and indirect manufacturing costs
• Proven expertise in warranty cost management, freight cost analysis, and inventory management
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and inventory management systems
• Proficiency in ERP systems (IFS preferred), Microsoft Excel, and financial modeling
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive insights from financial data
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and process optimization
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Strong business acumen and the ability to think strategically about cost management and operational efficiency

Demonstrates expertise in cost accounting principles, inventory management, and financial analysis within a manufacturing context. Proficient in ERP systems and financial modeling, with strong analytical skills to drive insights and optimize cost management.
