Description:

Evercore Wealth Management seeks an experienced Managing Director and Portfolio Manager to join its Minneapolis team. This senior role offers an accomplished investment professional the opportunity to advise sophisticated high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families within a highly collaborative wealth management platform.

The Managing Director will serve as a lead investment advisor on important client relationships, with responsibility for portfolio strategy, investment implementation, and delivering thoughtful advice within the context of each client's broader wealth objectives. The role combines the independence and accountability of leading client relationships with access to the firm's broader investment capabilities and expertise across wealth and fiduciary advisory.

For an established Portfolio Manager, the opportunity extends beyond managing a book of client relationships. The Managing Director will have a meaningful voice in the firm's investment process, contribute to the continued development of the Minneapolis business, mentor and develop other investment professionals, and help cultivate new and existing client relationships.

Evercore Wealth Management has built longstanding relationships with families across generations. This role offers the opportunity to become an important part of the long-term stewardship and growth of those relationships, while also helping shape the next chapter of the business.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as lead Portfolio Manager and investment advisor for a significant group of high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth client relationships.
  • Develop and oversee client investment strategies, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management, liquidity planning, and investment implementation.
  • Provide thoughtful, customized investment advice that reflects each client's objectives, circumstances, and broader wealth planning considerations.
  • Build and maintain trusted, long‑term relationships with clients, families, and their advisors, serving as a senior point of contact on investment matters.
  • Play a meaningful role in Evercore Wealth Management's investment process, including participation in relevant investment committees and contribution to one or more investment disciplines such as asset allocation, equities, fixed income, or external manager selection.
  • Partner closely with Wealth & Fiduciary Advisors and other colleagues to deliver integrated advice across investments, financial planning, estate and tax considerations, and family wealth strategy.
  • Contribute to the growth of the business by developing prospective client relationships, expanding relationships with existing clients, cultivating centers of influence, and participating in new business opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Portfolio Managers and other colleagues, helping develop investment capabilities, client relationship skills, and a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Contribute to broader firm initiatives and help shape strategy and best practices within Portfolio Management and Evercore Wealth Management.
Qualifications
  • Significant relevant experience in investment and portfolio management, preferably 10-14+ years, with substantial experience serving high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Demonstrated success as a lead Portfolio Manager and trusted advisor on sophisticated client relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment implementation, and risk management across multiple asset classes.
  • Strong investment judgment and the ability to translate complex market and investment issues into clear, actionable advice for clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deepen client relationships and contribute to new business development.
  • Established professional network and experience developing relationships with centers of influence preferred.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, including experience mentoring and developing investment professionals and contributing effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the presence and credibility to engage sophisticated clients, prospects, and senior colleagues.
  • Bachelor's degree required; CFA, MBA, or other relevant advanced degree or professional designation strongly preferred.
