Responsibilities
- Conduct complex negotiations to acquire real property rights (fees, easements, leases) to support civil works missions.
- Mentor staff and provide expert guidance on real estate practices; ensure work complies with agency policies and regulations.
- Apply the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 and represent the office at stakeholder meetings.
- Develop detailed real estate planning reports; conduct field investigations; evaluate property information and use cases.
- Research courthouse records, determine government easement locations, and assist legal staff with title curative work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Appointment subject to suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
- Travel to other duty locations up to 10% of the time.
- GS‑07: One year of specialized experience; or one full year of graduate‑level education; or a combination of education and experience totaling 100% of the required percentage.
- GS‑09: One year of specialized experience; or a master’s degree or two full years of graduate education; or a 100% combination of education and experience.
- GS‑11: One year of specialized experience; or a doctoral degree or three full years of graduate education; or a 100% combination of education and experience.
- GS‑12: One year of specialized experience; or a degree beyond the following years of graduate education (defined per GS‑12 requirements); or a 100% combination of education and experience.
- Foreign education must be evaluated and deemed equivalent to U.S. credentials as described by the agency.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
- One‑year probationary period during which performance is evaluated for continued employment.
- Direct deposit of pay is required; selection may be affected by Department of Defense referral restrictions for displaced employees.
- This position is non‑competitive with promotion potential up to GS‑12 (target grade).
