Responsibilities
- Pre-award Activities (45%):
Prepare all documents for grant submissions; manage proposal preparation and submission from development to award for an assigned group; prepare grant and contract budgets and applications for a variety of agencies; handle annual reports, subawards, contract setup, advance account requests, and amendments; collaborate with PIs, EnHS and SPH management, and SPA on sponsor communications; maintain expertise on sponsor and University requirements;
review sponsor requests for proposals; develop budgets and timelines; coordinate with SPA throughout the process; manage non-financial aspects of award setup and management, including Just in Time information and interim/final progress reporting. - Post-Award Grants Management (40%):
Reconcile expenses with budgets; provide financial reports; review contracts and coordinate sub-award management with SPA; anticipate issues and collaborate with accounting and stakeholders; ensure compliance with University policies; maintain electronic files on proposal and award activity; coordinate budgets and grant modifications; provide updates to leadership; monitor compliance issues (FCOI, RCR, public access policies, etc.). - Effort Certification Coordination and Payroll Updates (10%):
Track effort allocations; coordinate effort certification for faculty and grants; manage payroll distributions and salary cap issues; communicate distribution changes to principal investigators; approve effort statements in ECRT and ensure certification for HPM projects. - Other Duties (5%):
Assist with other grant, contract, finance, and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS plus at least four years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least eight years.
- Experience with pre- and post-award grants, including proposal preparation and submission, monitoring and reporting on financial activity, and regular reconciliations of expenditures across multiple funding sources.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple projects; work independently and as part of a team; effective communication in verbal and written form; proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel; commitment to diversity and inclusive workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education setting; familiarity with MN-GEMS, EFS, UM Reports/UM Analytics; familiarity with ASSIST, grants.gov, eRA Commons, and other federal systems;
Certified Approver.

Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $75,000 per year - $96,000 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience
