Physician Assistant
- Hepatobiliary (HPB) Program at Allina Health
. This is a full-time role located in Minneapolis at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. The Physician Assistant provides independent outpatient care, coordinates pre- and post-surgical care, collaborates closely with surgeons, and may assist in the operating room when necessary. The PA works in both inpatient and outpatient settings, serves as an educator, case manager, and consultant to the multidisciplinary team.
- Provides clinical care for patients
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with the attending physician
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy, and medical equipment
- Conducts patient education for chronic illness management or wellness care
- Refers for specialty care when indicated
- Consults with the physician when patient needs outside of the PA scope or when the diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear
- Participates in the health care team; promotes communication within the team and with other interdisciplinary staff
- Acts as a resource to team members; collaborates with the primary care team for program development
- Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed; collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding as designated
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Assists in the operating room as needed, including patient prepping, assisting during procedures, and wound/drain care/removal
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 days
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration registration required upon hire
- New graduates may be considered; prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology or HPB
- Medium work; lifting weight up to 32 lbs occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs frequently
Pay Range: $131,144 to $159,432 per year. The starting pay reflects full-time status. Final starting rate depends on factors including experience, education, and union agreement (if applicable).
